Big Bend Cares orginzatoin is a non profit organization that focuses on not only the prevention of HIV, but provides help to those who have already contracted it. The mission of Big Bend is " to provide education and comprehensive support to people infected with, or affected by HIV/AIDS in the Tallahassee area" BigBend Cares orignated in the 1980's when HIV and AIDS began to get more recognition of its danger and seriousness. Since then, Big Bend has expanded to an orgination that provides multiple services to a large number of people. A few servies that Big Bend offers include counseling, presciptions, dental, tansportaion, nutritional services, food bank, and even home health care. 

      Big Bend also does alot to riase money for AIDS research and families that are affeected by HIV/AIDS. For example, the AIDS Walk, which tookplace this past November hosted hundreds of people as they run a 5K and 10K. The money that is collected from registraiont fees goes towards this cause. Also, Big Bend has an event calle "Holiday Angels". This event focuses on the children who are affected by HIV, for example those who have a parent that has HIV. This events provides holida gifts for the children of families ina difficult financial situation. 

Having the opportunity to work with this organization gives students to opportunity to really make a different in th elives of families or indivdual.
